Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Chris S — 23 Oct 2007
A thought provoking documentary, both in subject matter and the way it is presented. The director is aware that just the act of observing something changes itâ?¦ and this is even more true when the subject is a young family with two toddlers. This film will make you think about the validity of modern art, the effect of media and â??stardomâ?? on our lives and how parents affect their children.
I think the sequel to this film could be a look at how Marlaâ??s younger brother, Zane, was affected by the lack of attention he received.
At one point, Marla asks if Zane can help her paint, the father says he can paint on his own canvas.
Marla: â??But it wonâ??t go in the gallery.â??
Father: â??(laughs) Thatâ??s right, it wonâ??t.â??
