Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Kayley T — 11 Dec 2007
This documentary initially questions the authenticity of Marla's paintings. Was it done by her or guided by her dad? Or even worse, instructed by her dad? Slowly, this film begins to question the age-old question: What is art? What defines art? Is it the beauty of art? The meaning behind it? Or is it ultimately just an autograph that confirms its validity? An excellent documentary that reveals a lot more truth compared to so many other generic documetaries.
It even ultimately reveal the validity of narrative. Who defines the truth? Amazing documentary that will definitely stir up conversations that may last for days. Who knows? Even weeks!
