Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Katy L — 16 Nov 2008
An interesting documentary that not only brings into question the subject material but of documentaries and the role of the documentarian. The position that Amir Bar-Levy is put in creates a fascinating thought of keeping distance from making judgements but building enough of a relationship with the people to gain the insights necessary to really draw out the best results.
You can watch it and try and make up your mind as to the role of Marla's parents in her work or appreciate the craft of Bar-Levy.
