For the most part it's just a hurricane of cliches in addition with weak acting and sloppy film making. Then...that happened and at first, thanks to Nicolas Cage's Wicker Man, I can't look at it without thinking "OH NO! NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEES! THEY'RE IN MY EYES! THEY'RE IN MY EYES! AHHHH! AHHHHHHHHH!".
But after that it does become real and touching which mostly redeems the film as a whole.
