Review of My First Mister (2001) by Mike R — 18 Apr 2008
Leelee Sobieski is a spiked teen, who unaccountably falls for a 49 year old haberdasherer played by comedian Albert Brooks. Brooks' own movies are primitive, single themed, unfunny and bad. But he's a good actor. Actress Christine Lahti directed this quite wonderful little film. Leelee has been dabbling with lesbianism, but finds herself drawn to the manager of this conservative male tog shop. She doesn't understand right away that at 18, she has flipped for this 49ish heavyweight man. The movie is about her getting used to it.
And he, who doesn't dig her much, starting to realized he loves her. I haven't even seen it all and I recommend it. The Netflix was so wrecked from use I had a difficult time copying it.
