Here is the thing. the same summer that this movie came out, there was another film called, "mi familia" that also came out. here is the language teaching for the day, "mi familia" is "my family" in spanish.

but the two moives are totally different. as in mi familia is about a cuban defeater than comes in miami in the mariel, (which ia actually a very good movie also starring morei tomei), this film my family is also very rich in culture.

it is the story about a mexican family that immigranted to california and how they successed and failed the american dream and still kept their hertiage at large. it is a very good inside into the family "latin" structure.

and I am not being biased, as I am latina, but from spain, many of the culture differences are there, but there is also alot of similarities. enjoy.
