Review of My Fair Lady (1964) by Alex K — 18 Feb 2011
A well made film, and a musical that didn't annoy me. There were some issues I had though. One thing I hate about musicals are songs inserted to take up screentime. For example, near the end the film takes up a sizable amount of time for the dad character to sing a song about events that are unimportant and unrelated to the main plot.
That's annoying. But most songs are plot related, and the music is pretty good too. This style of music is not my forte, but I didn't mind it. The script was witty and fun, and all the actors do well in their roles.
And there were a few minor mistakes I noticed with editing, but that didn't really hurt the movie. Again, a musical that was good to see due to its significance, but it won't really change my disinterest in them.
