Review of My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea (2016) by Tim M — 01 Mar 2018
Another in the long line of short-films that are turned into feature length. There is a kernel of a story here, it blossoms to a moral and in the end becomes a slog unless you're super high. This may have been an Oscar Nominated short, but as is often the case, it's stretched super thin and only to 75 minutes.
This is not for young kids. There are some pretty graphic scenes that would naturally occur if a building is sinking into the sea. I also found the animation a bit of a distraction, albeit unique. The voices here are terrific.
From top to bottom the voice-work is top shelf. I liked the themes and the idea but we needed a little bit more of a backbone. Final Score: 4.2/10.
