Review of My Dinner with Andre (1981) by Jeane H — 12 Aug 2012
I watched this last in college -- at the insistence either of my English TA or a college minister. Can't recall. Nearly thirty years later I see it for the second time, and its lines -- as absurd and as profound now as then -- are at times still tantalizing.
The good parts, and there are not a few, hit you differently at mid-life than at its adult beginning. I personally like a film where two intelligent men can talk, listen to each other, and we listen to them.
Where waiters are true professionals. And where Jerry Bruckheimer is blowing something up somewhere *else*.
