Review of My Date with Drew (2005) by Todd S — 03 Mar 2006
If you ever dreamed of meeting and/or going on a lunch date with Drew Barrymore, this is the movie for you. If you even dreamed of meeting your favourite celebrity and spending some alone time with them, this is the movie for you..
.
Some have called this documentary "shameless self-promotion". Hmmm, would they rather it have been "shameful" self-promotion? And how does one go about filming an semi-autobiographical documentary without it being self-promoting in any way? I think the naysayers just didn't like the main character of the film which is odd because he's a bit of an everyman - a guy who wants to make a film, probably wants to get in "the biz" and finds a compelling vehicle to do it through. I can't blame him for that. Besides, he is a charming and entertaining guy..

If you ever wondered how hard it might be for regular people like you to get close to and even have a conversation with a celebrity watch this movie..and despair :).
