Review of My Darling Clementine (1946) by Steve G — 28 Feb 2010
Somewhat ill-titled (& very loose) re-telling of the Gunfight at the OK Corral.
Solid western. Not extraordinary, but solid. Well acted, well directed.
Walter Brennan was pure evil, which was very shocking to see. Ford shows us again why he's quite probably the greatest director of all time.
Victor Mature also gives what may be his finest performance.
Certainly, no one shoots a more beautiful film.
Features the only bartender to ever offer no advice on love.
The Clementine character was actually quite appealing.
Unfortunately, it does end up being a slight bit of a downer. And a number of factual discrepanies challenge credibility a little.
Worth the watch though.
