Review of My Cousin Vinny (1992) by John E — 22 Jan 2011
A smart script with zippy dialogue and snappy humor that is detracted by too much profanity (the acting baggage Joe Pesci always seems to carry with him). Pesci does a nice job acting, proving his range moves beyond gangster movies.
Maris Tomei is one smoking piece of ass, and Herman Munster as a judge most certainly makes for some humorous situations. This movie reminded me a lot of Midnight Run; that is, it is an intelligent comedy whose profanity needlessly bumps it up into R-rated territory.
But this has no action over Midnight Run which sometimes had ho-hum action, which makes this the better movie overall.
