It's a decent teen film, yet not a very good one. It does boast great acting from the youngsters and a surprisingly thoughtful script, yet mixed messages, a meandering pace, and an uneven tone are what makes this fall short.
It's not really the fun family movie it wants to be, but it ends up being a down-to-earth film more suitable for older kids and teenagers. Perhaps those who were kids in the 80's/90's would appreciate this better than I did.
Still an enjoyable flick for those who want a fix of nostalgia, humor, and a little bit of warmth.
