Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Deb S — 08 Jan 2011
The movie is very slow but Norah Jones has a great voice. The soundtrack is the best part of the film for me. Unfortunately having Norah Jones as the main character was a tragic mistake by the director, she should stick to singing.
Plot: Norah Jones plays Elizabeth who just had her heart broken and decides to go on a journey across America and meets various people. Although Jeremy played by Jude Law appears to be the warm and tasty answer to her heartbreak, she realizes she needs to distance herself from familiar surroundings (and the man that hurt her) to get an honest perspective and to gain control of her life and emotions. Jude Law is great as usual, as a scruffy looking café owner and David Straitharn is good as an emotionally tortured cop who can't let go of his wife, played by Rachel Weisz. Best performance for me came from Natalie Portman's Leslie, a card shark with trust issues.
