Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Julia S — 01 Nov 2008
Stylistically, it was like dario argento did a jc penney commercial. I didn't appreciate the slo-mo and high contrast and weird cuts and cheesy music (even though the soundtrack was pretty good) and general overwhelming artsiness.
too many "meaningful, lingering glances" between characters. some of the dialogue is a bit too "wtf no one would say this in real life," but it has its moments. norah jones does a pretty good job with the lead, jude law is somewhat believable at portraying someone who is not an asshole, natalie portman is amusing, and rachel weisz is (as always) fucking incredible and stunning and I want to marry her.
