Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Juan A — 20 Dec 2008
Wong Kar Wai goes to America to talk about the same things of their previous movies: love and loss. On the good side, Wai simplifies things in here, despite keeping with his particular trademarks of slow motions and camera uses, and there's more space for narration, and despite being a movie with a unique rythm (as the rest of their films) imo it flows better than In the Mood for love, where style killed the movie.
On the not so good side, the movie lacks something, there's no sense of magic and uniqueness I had when I saw 2046. But anyway, it is a charming movie, with charming characters (it has Rachel Weisz and Chan Marshall) a nice romantic story and a wonderful wonderful wonderful kiss.
