Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Ng K — 25 Feb 2009
Really reminds me of Chungking Express, right from the start. Somehow I thought the film would work better if it was in chinese.
Good performances all around, especially David Strathairn who plays a drunk on alcohol and at the same time love police officer. Norah Jones plays herself really well, and she reminds me of Faye Wong as herself in Chungking Express. As for Jude Law, he seems lost, I guess he tries too hard and ends up going nowhere. As usual, Natalie Portman delivers spot on, and I wonder if I'd have the privilege to work with her in my lifetime.
I really enjoy the soundtrack and especially Cat Power. Wong Kar Wai has proven his sensitivity in his music selection, again.
Not a masterpiece, but I definitely don't mind watching this from time to time.
