Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Larisa L — 23 Apr 2009
My Blueberry Nights is very pretty an' all, but unlike other Wong Kar Wai films, it feels a bit empty. Norah Jones' character is rather one-dimensional and uninteresting, the script felt a bit rushed, the dialogue was a bit clumsy, there was very little chemistry between Jude Law and Ms.
Jones etc etc. If anything, it was Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman who stole the show. On the positive side, it is visually beautiful (as per usual) and Wong Kar Wai certainly knows how to create atmosphere.
All in all, MBN is pleasant, but hardly remarkable.
