Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Millo T — 21 Mar 2010
The movie is done with artistic sensibility and has a wonderful cast of actresses. However, doesn't really tell you a story, and feelings and what happens to the characters seem like taken from previously told stories.
The scenes with Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz had strength, but just by the actresses, because almost what is going to happen (only some details escape from that, and it could be discussed) can be predicted.
If you want to compare with another Wong Kar Wai movie, 2046, My Blueberry Nights is easier to follow, more logical story, more adopted to Western style, and 2046 is more mystic and shows a wider variety of characters -in both them, female actress are impacting-.
One is more concentrated in love, the other, in erotism. However, none both will transmit you great feelings, at least for me. You'll like that if you are a fan of artistic direction, and because of that I give 2 stars, because there are some aspects that are worth to see.
