Review of My Blueberry Nights (2007) by Caleb C — 26 Jun 2011
Legendary filmmaker? Not so much here, but I mean this is his first english film and I'm not educated on any of his other films. This felt as though it we're trying to hard to be serious on characters that where as dumb as nails and as cliche' as what anyone would see if one we're to take out a handful of depressing characters from romance films and create a world for them.
The script is almost laughably bad here, but by the end it does give us some liking for the main characters even though it comes across as something entirely unbelieveable. I can see this film contributing to thoughts of suicide among any viewer that watches it.
However, the acting is mostly great here aside from the lead, Norah Jones, but one can't help but feel an entire cast of miss casts here with bad wardrobe and stylists. It's hard to understand how anyone could enjoy this clearly unenjoyable film.
Luckily it makes for a great film to makes jokes on with if one we're to see it with a friend, which I had the privalege of doing.
