Review of My Blue Heaven (1990) by Robbie T — 14 Mar 2013
It's one of those movies that you might see on HBO or Showtime at 1:00 AM and think, "Hey, that was pretty funny." and you won't see it again for ten years and you're okay with that too.
Steve Martin is fantastic as the stereotypical Italian gangster showing he can be something beside a jerk, a bumbling dad, or even a heavy dramatic role. The plot, which is divided up with "Fraiser" like title cards and segments, is funny enough and moves along quickly, but in the end, it's Steve Martin that takes the average material and elevevates it to something slightly above average and entertaining to watch.
It's also worth your hour and thirty-six minutes just because it's based on the same source material that Martin Scorsese's "Goodfella's" is based off of.
