Most of the characters in this film are idiots, and completely unaware of their surroundings, so it's hard to really feel sympathetic toward any of them. There's lots of gruesome gore effects, showing way too much than needed.
A little goes a long way when you're killing people with a pick axe. Much of the story is cliched, but even so, the oppressive nature of a mine and the miner's jumpsuit, mask and light does give the film a very creepy feel.
This was shot in stereoscopic 3D but it's really not necessary. You get the point.
