Review of My Bloody Valentine (1981) by Aaron C — 26 May 2009
I have one complaint in regard to My Bloody Valentine. Now, by 1981 movies like Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre were setting the ground rules for slashers to come. This one follows all the rules excpet one, and that's the gore factor.
Being that it's a horror movie I can excues the poor acting and the shoddy plot because I'm promised a healthy dose of blood and guts. I hate to be so black and white about it but that's all that makes or breaks a good slasher flick.
Friday the 13th has it in spades, with a cool character to boot. As far as Harry Warden and his kills go I'm not impressed. Maybe one or two nifty 80's slasher moments but none worth blubbering about.
