Review of My Bloody Valentine (1981) by Josh M — 25 Jun 2011
Certainly not a movie for everyone, but honestly, if you aren't the type of person who would watch a film titled "My Bloody Valentine", would you really bother to read this review anyway? It's an 80's slasher flick, so obviously much has aged about the film, including the makeup and effects, but out of the countless slasher movies "Friday the 13th" spawned this is probably one of the better entries.
The plot is pretty thin (a vengeful miner who was left for dead on Valentine's comes back to wreak havoc each year on the same holiday) but in all honesty for this type of film it has much more substance than most.
Overall it's a fun film; yes the acting is bad, and some of the action is absurd, but when you come to expect that it ends up being part of the fun of these films. And Harry Warden is still a pretty unique and entertaining horror villain.
