Review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) by Kate M — 22 Jul 2011

Finally got to watch this movie after 10 years of wanting to and it was definitely entertaining but not as funny/good as I thought it would be. Very solid acting and some great laughs for sure (lots of the interactions with the parents which resonate with me as well).

The story is basically about a 30 year old woman who has lived at home and worked at her parents Greek restaurant all her life. She finds true love and her parents aren't originally on board because he's white but everyone lives happily ever after obviously.

I thought some of the scenes were cheesy but overall the movie flowed nicely and didn't drag on at all which was nice. Definitely worth watching once but not a classic (like some have said) for me at all.
