Review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) by James M — 29 Apr 2010
Okay, so here's my take: Nia has the potential as a good film writer, given how good the overall storyline is. The only letdown with this film's screenplay is that she could've tried to come up with better lines by several characters since they didn't quite flow well with the film. Despite this, great plot overall.
I'm not sure how the Greeks would react to this film, but I find the usage of Greek heritage slightly too stereotypical for the film. Not to mention, the use of the pride of the Greek heritage was completely excessive and could've been used a little less than what was depicted in the film.
I find this film enjoyable in the way that great acting overall (particularly Constantine), good story, execution and directing by Zwick all made this film hilarious. However, the film is marred by some badly written lines, and overusage of Greek heritage.
