Along with Pretty Woman, one of my favourite chick flicks that charts the true story of Nia Vardalos meeting and marrying her non-Greek husband. A brilliant script is generously sprinkled with hilarity as we witness the family's reaction to her engagement and subsequent wedding.
Vardalos wrote the script and starred in the movie, which was really only possible because Rita Wilson, the wife of Tom Hanks, saw the stage play. Tom and Rita then produced the movie, and what a blessing they brought it to the big screen.
