Very surprised by this film and in a good way. While I did not go into this film with high expectations, I was laughing a lot more than I thought I would. First, the comedy in the film was not forced at all.

It was not cliched and not too dependent on ethnic humor as I expected. The whole thing with Windex was funny to me. While Nia Vardalos was excellent as Toula, her script definitely won me over. It definitely deserved all the accolades during the award season.

Michael Constantine however stole every scene as the overbearing father with extreme Greek pride, Gus. The home with the Greek flag just had me rolling. While this film seemed like a typical boy meets girl and boy meets girl's family film, it was more than that.

It really showed how nationalism can go wrong but in the end, happiness knows no flags or boundaries. Definitely worth seeing again.
