Review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016) by Stephen C — 29 Aug 2016
The first movie had one simple story to focus on. This movie, however, has multiple stories going on, at the same time, which makes it a bit more complicated to follow.
I didn't find myself laughing as much as I did in the first one because I was already familiar with these characters and their quirks. This sequel doesn't bring anything new to the story and might as well not exist.
However I am recommending the movie for two reasons. First, the love and support of the family is still there and they are just as strong and charming as ever. If you are looking for a loving family film, this should do nicely for a while.
Second, there is a moral to this movie that is clearly expressed, at the end, with intercuts from three different scenes focusing on Gus and Maria, Toula and Ian, and the third on their daughter Paris. That moral is that no matter where you are on life's journey it is possible for you to still be in love.
