Review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016) by Pomaranc — 01 Apr 2016
Phenomenal!!! I first saw the original MBFGW, when I was still a kid and I felt in love immediately. Through years I've watched it dozens of times, if not almost weekly. No wonder I was exited when I heard of making it's sequel.
I was thrilled, but also terrified they would spoil it. All I have to say after watching it yesterday is, they didn't. I don't say they couldn't have done it better, they could. Compared to the original movie (which for me is high above most comedies I've saw in my life), the sequel is a little better then average, but compared to other comedies in, let's say, last 10 years, it's FANTASTIC! Nia Vardalos did a great job bringing it back to us, with original cast, scenes, even jokes from the first movie.
Comparing to the original movie, maybe it's a little more focused on relationships - behind all the jokes is hidden a beautiful message on family and marriage. I went with my family and we didn't have so much laugh in years.
It's hilariously funny and touching and lovable and in a way consoling, because we all have family, which is fabulous but sticks in our business all the time. And that's good, because that means, they love us.
The movie brings a deep point to it. I've just read some bad reviews and I can't believe it! Any critics on movie being superficial and judgemental are absurd - this is comedy, for God's sake. All the jokes on Greeks are meant for very positive angle, so I don't see the problem.
However, it's a MUST see!!! For people, which haven't seen the 1st one it will be hilarious, and the ones who did, will also not be disappointed.
