Review of My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) by Pradeep N — 09 Jul 2010
My Best Friend's Wedding is the story of a woman who made a pact with her best friend that if neither were married in 10 years they would marry each other. When she gets a call from her friend she is shocked to learn that he is getting married.
She soon realizes she still has feelings for him and tries to break them up. Julia Roberts portrays the woman. This is one of her best performances. She acts so sweet while all along she is devising an evil plan.
This movie is one of the all time great romantic comedies. Dermot Mulroney portrays the groom and Cameron Diaz is the bride. One of the best performances in the film is Rupert Everett who portrays Roberts close friend George who tries to help her decide to do the right thing.
The film also has great music including the best sing along ever captured on film. At the table the cast sings I say a little prayer for you. The ending is very touching as the bride comes to her senses and finally does the right thing by letting the man of her dreams go.
She gives the couple their song the way you look tonight. It is a heartbreaking moment in the film. I recommend everyone see this very enjoyable film. You will be highly entertained.
