Daniel Day-Lewis had my eyes glued to the screen. He's such a presence in this movie as a person you love to admire but shouldn't. This is no ordinary gay movie. In fact, homosexuality comes second, whereas issues about race and class come first.

It had that subtle message that homosexuality is normal, that audiences shouldn't focus on that. I thought that move was brillaint and gained my utmost respect. That said, I can't say I love this movie because I thought a lot of the scenes were taken off "The Godfather" movies.

I didn't like those films either so me being reminded was not a good thing. On the other hand, it was refreshing to see two guys--one Pakistani, one British--being in love because you rarely get to see two people of difference races (let alone gay) spice up the screen.

The kissing and love scenes are beyond romantic and fascinating. So, I'll recommend it on that level. Otherwise, I wasn't that impressed.
