Review of Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) by Tim M — 03 Jun 2006
Captain Blye was really one of the best villians in movie history. His cruelty towards all of the seamen aboard the Bounty was just uncalled for and I'm glad that Fletcher Christian played by Clark Gable turned on him.
It must take a lot of courage to do something like that when you would be risking death. Although I can't blame him because I wouldn't know how I would handle being aboard someone like Captain Blye.
Even though Fletcher was breaking the law, I feel that he was the hero and did what really needed to be done. I just wish that the Captain died and didn't survive the journey. Besides the great story the part that amazes me was how they crafted the amazing action scenes which left me breathless.
This movie was made in 1935 over 70 years ago and I think it could still compare to Master and Commander today. Mutiny on the Bounty is a landmark in american cinema and it is no doubt one of the very best movies I've ever seen.
