Review of Mutiny (1999) by David H — 07 Feb 2010
It said on the DVD cover that it was one of the worst sci-fi movies since Plan 9 from Outer Space. Hard to argue. The worst? Hardly. Worth the time? Hardly. Would I reccomend it? Hardly. I enjoy a good bad movie, but this is not it.
I could say something about the terrible performances, but I won't. There is a difference of seeing a bad performance by a good performer and a bad performance by someone who can only perform badly (in the case of the latter, it is not their fault).
I could aim some darts at the director, but I will not do that as well, although I could...and probably should. No, my venom is aimed at you, Mr. Producer. You were the one who ultimately hired the cast and staff.
You were the one who selected an old warehouse to shoot hoping that it would pass as the interior of the Galactica. And, by the bye, you were the one who...somehow...managed to snag Battlestar Galactica footage and use it in your pic.
You probably never considered the fact that the same crowd that watched that show in the '80's might see your movie. Oops. What possessed you to choose a script written by someone who had not a clue as to how to write good dialogue.
..or any dialogue, for Pete's sake? The DVD cover said it was hilariously bad. Not quite. Plan 9 was hilariously bad. Flash Gordon was hilariously bad. The original Dawn of the Dead was hilariously bad.
This was just bad. Real bad.
