Review of Mute (2018) by Simon W — 25 Feb 2018
A slow-broiling sci-fi thriller. NOT FOR EVERYONE, it seems. Characters yo've never seen before, unusual plot and gorgeous world building add up to a movie, that intrigues. You are drawn into the world, and the tiny sci-fi details. Comparisons to blade runner aside - ID" say the film this most resembles is Zero Theorem (Terry Gilliam) - and due to that - one for the 'true' sci-fi fans.
If this was seen at the cinema, where you could be more recessed in the diabetic of the "cinema" instead of at home where distractions are easy - a reckon a lot of reviewers would score this higher. Conversely, if this story had been told in an 8-10 part miniseries, it would be LAUDED as another Netflix hit.
You either get it or you don't - FIVE STARS.
