Review of Mute (2016) by Cyber N — 16 Mar 2018
Oddly, this being a film from a British director, I don't feel like western audience are "getting" this film. My experience watching this film made me wish it was a series, I wanted its mysteries to linger beyond the running time the constraints of a movie could allow.
The stories are interwoven in an interesting way, far less obvious and deliberate than what we are used to seeing. In many ways, it reminded me of some of my favorite anime serious where the ultimate and final conflict have not been revealed until over half-way through the series.
I typically enjoy Paul Rudd in nearly everything he does, but this was first time I've ever thought of him as more than a personality I enjoy on screen. He was managed to portray a character that was not only humorous, but also deeply disturbing.
I finished the film wanting more. I want an entire series based around Paul's character. If you like Black Mirror, or Psycho Pass, think of this as a long episode and enjoy the ride.
