Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Kyle E — 17 Apr 2009
Many problems arise when watching "Mutant Chronicles". The first being simple: what the hell is John Malkovich doing in this film? His part is small and he plays it simply as if he could care less that he's even in this film.
Then we have good actors, such as Tom Jane, whom do a decent job in this film, but not enough for me to recommend it. It is brutal and gory, half of the time it makes no sense (perhaps reading the graphic novel/comic book associated with this film would clear up my confusion), and most of the acting despite Tom Jane is completely awful.
Then you have the undeniably hot Devon Aoki, whom you may remember as the Chinese chick from Sin City who spoke no words, but killed many. She's here, talking more then she ever has, but she can't even save this film.
I can see why this film has sat on the shelf for over a year. It's not terrible, but it's not highly recommendable either...it sits in the middle of mediocrity.
