Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Sarah G — 04 Aug 2009
Mutant Chronicles.
2/10.
If films were rated on potential Mutant Chronicles might score a lot higher. Unfortunately they are not, as MC fails at nearly every category films are rated in by the time the credits roll.
Mutant Chronicles is a poorly thought out, questionably acted film filled with monsters that don't scare or matter and heroes that are so paper thin personality wise that they don't inspire in the least. The CGI isn't as bad as I had heard as some scenes did look quite decent, but as a whole this film drops the ball in the department as well with far too many cheesy moments scattered through out.
This flick was frustrating to watch as potential did exist for a decent story but the execution through out is miserably failed from one scene to the next. Why did this silly machine make mutants? Why was it buried on Earth? Why wasn't they ancient bomb that was made to destroy it not used when it was first discovered ages ago? Questions, questions, QUESTIONS! None are answered 'enough' or simply not at all. Just a bad film and dumb story that I wouldn't suggest for anyone. Now I know why this film didn't get a national release. Leave this one on the rental shelf for sure.
