Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Jc E — 22 Jun 2010
I actually had pretty high hopes for this film. With talent like Ron Pearlman (Outlander), John Malkovich (Beowulf), and the hit-or-miss Thomas Jane (Boogie Nights), I set my expectations well above where they should have been.
What the film turned out to be was a film less likable than any of the 'Resident Evil' flicks with more questions left unanswered than 'The Matrix Revolutions' and lamer effects than 'The Mist'.
Combine that with muddled spirituality, anti-corporate propaganda, and cookie-cutter characters, and you have an unlikeable film that is unworthy of the somewhat talented cast. It's a complete misfire, and it's no wonder that it performed poorly.
