Review of Mustang (2015) by Leena L — 18 Apr 2016
A Turkish film that broke my heart. And made me sweat (2 hours in 27 C with no air-conditioning). Made me think of Virgin Suicides, made me sad for all the young women in oppressive communities suffering the violence, forced marriages, sexual abuse and lack of education and fun.
It was full of hope and fun anyhow, but deep down.... utterly touching. If you can, go see, it is just out in France, hopefully in a theater near you later on. I would give 4 stars (the film is not yet in Flixster for a review).
