Review of Musically Mad (2008) by Phil R — 02 Sep 2008
A really good insight in to the love of sound systems and the music that utilises deep bass to full extent. Well paced documentary. You do get the sense of the uphill struggle soundboys, DJ's and venue promoters undertake in order to have these dances on little to no money.
Good insight in to the people who have the talent and knowhow to achieve good proper sound and bassweight that alot of popular mainstream clubs lack. Luckily the culture is healthy in NZ with crews putting on proper Dub soundystem music gigs like Vital sounds, Newtown sound and in the UK with DMZ, FWD and Exodus etc with artists still getting dubs cut and vinyl appriciation.
We just need to build more good quality sound systems, which takes dedication and effort. Big up the musically mad.
