I was surprised by just how much I liked it. For the most part I don't like romantic comedies. The music is funny and pleasant. The jokes are plentiful and subtle. I liked how they poked fun of the pop music industry.

But the movie would really make a great date movie. Nothing really bad in it to make one embarrassed or whatever. Grant and Barrymore have some great chemistry, and you can really connect with them. The movie is just pleasant.

Yes the story is obvious, but it a rom com, we know before the previews start that they will meet, hit it off, get in a fight, break up and at the end they will kiss and make up. That has been done a million times and its done again here but its still one of the better rom coms that I have seen.
