Review of Music and Lyrics (2007) by Matthew T — 16 Dec 2017
Like a good piece of music that keeps you from changing the station so does this film starts off and ends. As romantic comedies goes its a good one. Never melodramatic and genuinely interesting seeing Hugh Grant put himself and his voice out there as a singer. Not only that its a blast watching Grant make a mockery of the 80's pop celebrity craze. Drew Barrymore has never been better as she plays a genuinely sweet character. Seriously its nice to watch nice people on the big screen from time to time. These are not Hollywood cardboard cut out character or low life degenerates. In the end what makes this romantic film works and other fails is that you actually like these people...and care that they end up together...(whoops did I just give a spoiler away...well c'mon folks it a romantic comedy...ha ha).
Lastly I actually showing the process of writing the song as well as the song was quite enjoyable. Big thumbs up.
