Review of Murmur of the Heart (1971) by Christopher C — 13 Jul 2007
Extremely beautiful and poetic (and yet almost totally forgotten nowadays) film about the first sexual experiences of a teenager, including an incidental incestuous encounter without going towards the typical and formulaic conservative tabloid-style filmmaking on anything related to incest.
Louis Malle's sincere and ephemeral approach about such coming of age ritual of uncertainty of growing up is very heartening to those who follow the feelings of our dear teenager protagonist and his open-hearted mother.
