Review of Muriel's Wedding (1994) by Susan S — 14 Oct 2010
The story of Muriel Heslop is an identifiable one for pretty much everyone as we have all felt the emotions of this poor character at some point. Shooting both Toni Colette & Rachel Griffiths to international stardom, Muriels wedding is a groundbreaking and honest Aussie film about self discovery, self faith, breaking free and rising above to become the best person you can be. Emotionally, the film delivers with it's human storyline, maturity and subtle humour. A very great adult film.
A film that will melt you into a puddle, make you cry, make you laugh, and when you get to the end, you will want to do it all over again.
A great inspiration, and a great addition to Aussie cinema.
RECCOMMENDATIONS.
Children: It's not a film that children will benefit from in any way, it has two sex scene's that do contain some minor nudity and a few F bombs here and there that will not really effect the average child. Having said that, I personally don't see any reason why it shouldn't be saved for a more appropriate, adult viewing session.
Religion: Sexual refs.
