Review of Muriel's Wedding (1994) by John P — 09 Nov 2011
A person once made me sit down and watch Mamma Mia. As I was rotting inside watching that turd, and being killed by seeing James Bond in sequins, I was thinking... All the credit Mamma got with the ABBA numbers, and how popular it was, and how many people never saw the ABBA soundtracked (I know that is not a word) Muriel's Wedding.
This film has more charm in five minutes than all of Mamma Mia, and the performance of Toni Collette is beyond all those in Mamma. People, instead of going with the flow, and just following the crowd to Mamma Mia type movies, find something you never heard of.
.. Might turn out to be a gem.
