Review of Murderball (2005) by Yuval P — 28 Dec 2006
This documentary was raw and real. It made me feel self-absorbed as an able-bodied individual. Before this movie, I felt I acted toward the handicapped as most of the general public. If I saw a wheelchair-stuck person anywhere, it harkened my sense of pity... I automatically felt bad for the individual. I felt sympathy. I would be the person to lend a hand. I felt that they obviously could not live a life with freedoms similar to mine. This wasn't a conscious thought, but has become one now that I have settled a thought on it.
This movie spits in the face of this entitled ability to pity the handicapped. This is why I love it. The individuals shine a sense of spirit that can never be limited by physical abilities.
See the documentary for what it is: a revelation that the human spirit is not limited by what we percieve to be limits. :fresh:
