Review of Murder Party (2007) by Pat O — 30 Aug 2008
As a guy wanting to get into the film industry, this low budget horror flick was inspiring to me. Why can't I get a bunch of buddies together to make something like this? I guess I have to get into school first.
Anyways, the plot was original - It's halloween, and a guy finds an invitation to a "murder party" and shows up. Unknowing that it's a bunch of aspiring artists who plan to murder him on tape for an art project.
In short: They're dumb cokeheads and some bad stuff happens between them, the guy escapes, which starts a series of hilarious events. A cool note is the main "killer" is dressed like one of the baseball furies gang members from The Warriors.
The direction is pretty solid, great camera work, it looks like a pretty expensive camera was used. The gore is goretastic, the music is creepy, the only downside is the acting leaves a lot to be desired.
They're pretty much all first-timers or just friends of the director, so no harm done. I don't watch horrors for the acting. I'm rambling, this is a really fun movie and I reccomend it.
