Review of Murder Party (2007) by Caleb G — 16 May 2010
Twisted and sick, Murder Party is one of the most disturbing movies to come along in a long while. A wild ride of terrifying violence and comedy! The plot revolves a parking attendant police officer named Chris.
Upon receiving an invitation to a Murder Party, the lonely Chris Holiday uncharacteristically decides to go. Fashioning a knight costume out of a cardboard box, Chris embarks on his party and quickly finds himself in the middle of a rogue art collective set on killing him.
Oddly funny and quirky, the screenplay is sharp, witty and disturbing. Funded entirely by Lab of Madness, an independent film company and receiving high praise from Slamdance Film Festival, the movie blends black comedy and tension seamlessly.
A film to take a chance on but one that could pay off.
