Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Claudia H — 19 Nov 2017
I have watched the 1974 & 2010 versions of this movie & cant help but compare this with those. This is a very interesting take of Poirot, but I think it's a combination of David Suchet & Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes.
This movie is hitting the basic elements of the story but not really going into the details of Poirot, which means his moral dilemma is underserved and a bit random (the book makes his issue clear due to religious beliefs but here they don't even bother to mention it which adds to the randomness.
This movie is also way too fast! Poirot has always been a fast speaker, but everyone could've slowed down a bit & let the audience take in more of the details like dialogue, beautiful scenery, the perfections of service, and more.
